The best way to muddle cucumber is to peel the skin off, slice it in half, and scoop out the seeds. Then, chop it into 1-inch chunks. Place these chunks in a cocktail shaker and proceed to smash them down with a cocktail muddler; this will release the juice from the cucumber.  When the finished martini is strained from the shaker, the smashed pulp will be separated from the liquid and left behind.
